The JDM version features a 2.0-liter version of the Subie flat-four turbo, whacked to the tune of 300bhp. The 2.5-liter version we'll get in the US will likely also be rated at 300bhp, but will produce some significant torque. Sadly, we confirmed that the sweet Recaro sport seats found in the JDM version will not make it into the US model.
What will be coming over is the SI (Subaru Intelligent) Drive system with three selectable modes, a six-speed transmission and four fat exhaust tips. And in case you're wondering, yes, the 2008 WRC concept rally car is wearing the exact same bodywork as the new STI. Subaru didn't have time to complete the WRC bodywork before the show, so at this point, you could own your own WRC car, body-wise. We also had the mouth-watering chance recently to drive the new JDM STI at Fuji Speedway. Keep an eye out next month for our upcoming first-drive news.
