The DSM/EVO shootout is the country's largest gathering of all generation Eagle Talons, Mitsubishi Eclipses, Plymouth Lasers and Mitsubishi Evolutions. Enthusiasts travel long hours (some even days) to gather at Norwalk Raceway and show what their cars can really do. You may be asking yourself why Norwalk Raceway in Norwalk, Ohio? That’s the home of Buschur Racing who are the pioneers in the world of DSM performance. 14 years ago David Buschur, owner of Buschur Racing, decided to invite some DSM’s out to his local track for some drag racing and it took off from there. This year, like last, saw a record number of cars show up and the gross amount of horsepower has hit ridiculous status. Saturday’s gathering at Buschur Racing’s shop indicated just how serious the DSM/EVO crowd is with the annual Dyno shootout. Considering there were a handful of 500whp+ cars competing, it was quite the spectacle. Sunday proved that these cars aren’t just dyno queens, oh no, they are pushed and pushed very hard. The day’s events couldn’t have been more exciting. Mid morning, the hometown boys, Buschur Racing became the first shop to pilot an EVO into the 8-second barrier with an 8.95@163mph while Marco Passante of Magnus Motorsports blew away the Quick 16 competition with numerous 8-second passes as well. His best an 8.70@162mph. Props goes to the AMS guys as they gave Passante a run in the finals which proved quite entertaining, but they just came up short and had to settle for the Quick 16 runner up. John Sheppard and Brent Rau were also in attendance and made some exhibition passes. These two guys know how to put on a show and don’t think for a minute they were going soft. Sheppard smacked off an amazing 7.95@182mph while Rau dug deep and dropped jaws with a 7.00@199mph. All in all, this year’s DSM/EVO shootout was the biggest and fastest to date. At the rate these cars and enthusiasts are progressing next year should be even crazier. By Peter Tarach Enjoyed this Post?
