Rubber wasn’t the only thing burning at the season opener of the NHRA’s Sport Compact Palm Beach Nationals at Moroso Motorsports Park. As temperatures soared high into the 80s, this photographer’s skin became as well-done as the hamburgers on the vendor’s grills. Speaking of well-done, the NHRA proved once again that import drag racing is still alive and kicking. The stands were packed, the competition was fierce and the local racers proved themselves as worthy rivals against the pro race teams. As the dust settled and the tire smoke cleared, the likes of Brad Personett in the Pro RWD Titan Motorsports Scion, Jason Hunt and his Pro FWD Chevrolet Cobalt, Ken Scheeper’s Modified class Mazda RX-8, Kenny Tran’s Quaker State sponsored Hot Rod Scion tC and Jeremy Lookofsky in the All Motor Honda Civic, all won their respective classes. By the time this sunburn fades, you should be able to check out the latest issue of Modified for detailed event coverage. By Peter Tarach Enjoyed this Post?
