Stillen Open House
Site: Costa Mesa, CA
For more than a decade now, Stillen has held a customer appreciation day at its facility in Cosa Mesa, California. What started off as a small show has grown into one of the largest Nissan Z car events in the country. This year was special, though, as Stillen was celebrating its 25th year in business! Because of this momentous occasion, Mr. Stillen himself, Steve Millen, brought out the IMSA Championship-winning 300ZX twin-turbo race car for a dyno pull.
The Z makes about 1,300 whp in race trim and the sounds it emits are as menacing as the power output. The gurgling, popping and growling the infamous race car made while warming up on the dyno immediately drew an immense crowd. Unfortunately, the racing slicks just couldn't keep traction; anytime Mr. Millen eased into the throttle and those twin turbos started spooling up, the rear end would get squirrely and negate any chance of making a full pull. Nevertheless, it was still an honor to hear that race car run.

An engine bay all Z owners would want to call their own.
What also makes Stillen's customer appreciation day special is that the company gives back to the Nissan community with thousands of dollars in product giveaways, discounted prices on parts and a full shop tour of the facility. This event isn't just about bringing your car down to show off; you're also rewarded for it.
As long as Stillen keeps putting on its open house, we'll be there every year. It's not only a great car show but it's a good time all around.
