The WTCC or World Touring Car Championship in Sonoma, CA on September 8th 2013 was one of those events that just happened to sneak under the radar for many people in Nor.Cal and unfortunately for them, they missed a day filled with Motorsport heaven.
For those of you who are more into the “Stance” scene, the Fatlace Slammed Society car show is something you don’t want to miss. Fatlace hosted its Slammed Society car show in the paddock of the racetrack during the WTCC in Sonoma to provide some off-track eye candy.
The cars at the Slammed Society show were a solid representation of the Nor.Cal car scene. From builds that completely pushed the “Stance” envelope to the max, to builds that were completely out of the norm. The cars up in Northern California most definitely stood out.
The guy’s, who ended up bringing their cars out to the track for the Slammed Society car show, ended up getting a very special treat at the end of the day. They got to take their cars on a parade lap around Sonoma raceway in between the final WTCC races. I’m sure it was the first time any of those cars actually saw real track time but it was still pretty rad to see those cars cruising down the carousel.
Since the Evasive motorsports time attack demo was also happening the same day. The time attack cars were staged with the Slammed Society cars in the car show area. Seeing a stripped down and race ready Subaru Impreza GC8 sitting next to an extremely cambered out WRX Wagon on air ride was a little shocking, but that’s exactly what the car scene is all about right? Putting your own style into your car and building it for what you want is something all of us can relate to.
We can’t wait to see what Nor. Cal has in store for us during the WTCC tour next year.
