Ultimate StreetCar Challenge 02
The world's baddest street cars prepare for battle.
In this article, you will read about 10 of the world's most capable street cars. They come from all across America, from Connecticut to Ohio, from California to Pennsylvania. They're the cars you, the readers of Sport Compact Car, voted for and chose to do battle in our annual no-holds-barred, winner-takes-all contest of acceleration, braking, handling, durability and driveability. The Ultimate Street Car Challenge.
Here's how it all went down. First, we asked the owners of the world's baddest cars to enter their machines. More than 130 did. We chucked the ones we didn't like and narrowed the choices to 92 cars--those we showed you in the July 2002 issue. Then we asked you, the reader, to vote for the 10 you wanted to see punch it out. More than 4,000 sent in ballots.

In the following pages we'll give you a closeup look at the 10 extraordinary cars that received the most votes. There are two Toyotas, two Nissans, two Mitsubishis, one Acura, one Subaru, one Dodge and one Laminar, whatever that is. Hey, don't yell at us. You picked them, remember.
In our March 2003 issue (On newsstands January 28th, 2003,) we'll cover the two-day contest itself, which was sponsored by Tokico and www.wheelsboutique.com. In the meantime, get the February 2003 issue, turn to page 99 and fill out your entry form for next year's challenge and check out the article below for more great photos of the cars.
