How Does It Fit? - 2007 Honda Fit

Honda Fits Big Things In A Small Package

At the 2005 25 Hours of Thunderhill, the Spoon Fit cruised to a second place finish in the E3 class. It was the slowest car in the competition averaging lap times in the 2-minute, 25-second range. Compared to the top cars in the competition, the Spoon Fit was roughly 20 seconds slower per lap. But Spoon and Opak weren't trying to win the event outright. They were pursuing their own wacky agenda-maximum performance and fuel economy. Through careful planning, the Spoon team managed to complete the entire race on just 100 gallons of gas, averaging about 20 mpg for the entire 25 hours. This was more than 50 percent better than the first place car in their class, and an accomplishment inconceivable for the rest of the field.

In an age where the only measures of performance seem to be horsepower and 0-60 times, the Spoon Fit is a refreshing break. It has neither power nor breakaway speed, yet has purity few high-performance machines can match.

Opak RacingEdmun Laurea, President and founder of Opak Racing, is a man of his word. With years of experience in dealing with just about every type of aftermarket tuner imaginable, we've gotten pretty good at figuring out which ones know what they're doing and which ones we wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole. Few have caught our eye and inspired our trust like Opak Racing in San Bruno, Calif.

Started in 2000 by race fanatics, Opak worked through Japanese connections to bring in one of the most exclusive Japanese tuners to the U.S., Spoon Sports. Their goal wasn't just to import and sell parts however; Opak and Spoon were deeply interested in racing and developing the drivers, machines, and community needed to support it.

Under the tutelage of Tatsuru Ichishima, President of Spoon Sports, Opak's team campaigned and supported a Spoon RSX, RL, Fit, and Accord Euro R (TSX) in NASA's 25 Hours at Thunderhill, the U.S. Touring Car Championship series, and various time attack competitions. They have met with much success, seeing podium finishes in both the USTCC and the 25 Hours.

But their desire to win goes beyond trophies. Opak Racing puts just as much effort into in taking raw but talented young drivers and developing them into future Spoon Sports drivers. To this end, they are heavily involved with the National Auto Sports Association (NASA) series of High Performance Driving Events (HPDE). Think of it as a package deal. They'll sell you the parts, show you how to use them, and take you to the track to get the most out of them.
