Many men tried, but they all failed. So it took a woman to break the seven-second Honda front-wheel drive record. On Saturday, September 30, 2006, Stephanie Eggum drove her unsponsored 2000 Honda Civic coupe through the traps at 7.957 seconds and 179.52mph during the third round of qualifying at the NHRA Sport Compact Fall Nationals at Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey. Eggum and her team backed up that time with three consecutive 7.9-second runs, including a record-setting 7.908 seconds/184.25mph in the final round. Along with winning a Wally, Eggum now holds the record for the quickest and fastest front-wheel-drive Honda ever. Congratulations, Stephanie.
