After an AEM ECU and complimentary wideband O2 sensor were installed, the car went to Scott Avoy of Z-Fever in Tampa for the moment of truth. Avoy tuned the car to a claimed 427 wheel-hp without the use of methanol. ALKY Alcohol Injection Systems' owner, Don Julio, was on hand and assured Carlton of another 50 to 80 wheel-hp by using the injection system. Further multiplying power is a 4.57 final drive from Richmond Racing, which, predictably enough, has been cryo-treated.

As anyone who has flown a jet can tell you, power is nothing without control. The idea wasn't to build a dyno queen that couldn't get out of its own way on the track. Comptech's coilovers were used in conjunction with their front tower bar and a rear tower bar from Cusco. An X-Brace from MUZ adds an extra measure of stiffness to the naturally rigid S2000. The drilled and slotted brake rotors have been cryo-treated at Carlton's facility as well.

A Sport Compact Car reader can only assume he took his aerodynamic cues from the radical scoops and ducts adorning the fuselage of, say, an F15. Before knocking Carlton for blowing the dough on body modifications, though, you must consider that every performance-oriented area has been touched on. As he puts it: "I ran out of things to do."

The always on-the-go pilot seems to have finally found a way to catch a rush on the ground, reporting that the car is driven daily (provided he's on the ground himself). If you're going to have something cryo-treated at his SubZero facility in Tampa (www.subzerocryo.com), drop us a line and let us know how many more jobs Jeff Carlton has taken on.
