Nissan GT-R R32 - Unnaturally Aspirated

Nissan Gtr R32 Rear View

The actual bulge on the hood is closed off, basically serving as a purely aesthetic addendum. Thanks to a few trick engine internals like oversized pistons, Nismo valvetrain and porting/polishing of the heads, the Top Secret VQ32 Skyline GT-R develops a mighty 354 HP at 6,300 rpm. That is slightly over 100 HP/liter and in case you are wondering torque does not suffer, there are just under 287 ft-lbs available at the same rpm. High-flow manifolds have been developed and feed the hot exhaust gasses to a full-dual titanium exhaust system which unleashes the most brutal V6 snarl you are ever going to hear. It’s so deep and angry it is more akin to a V8 engine note! An ORC clutch feeds the 6-speeder which in turn sends drive to a very tight Cusco 2-way rear LSD.

An Aragosta-based Top Secret suspension kit has been mated to some Roberuta air-cups which through a compressed air circuit can lift or lower the Skyline, so the slammed down show-car look is just a button-flick away. Being an NA R32, oh sorry, a VQ32, it’s somewhat lighter (350lbs) than a normal turbocharged GT-R, so the braking system only consists of R34 GT-R front Brembo calipers, Endless discs and stock rear calipers. Wheels are courtesy of Rays Engineering while some sticky Bridgestone Potenza RE-010R offer high levels of grip. Unlike most Top Secret cars this latest demo-car does not feature extreme body-kits, just the old-school G-Force front bumper, VQ carbon hood and a small lip spoiler. A rear carbon diffuser has been added to clean up airflow under the rear portion of the car.

A full show-car look has been given to the interior with leather Recaro racing seats, Robson Leather trimming on the doors, dashboard, roll cage and headliners. Mounted in place of the stock instrumentation is one of the most anticipated products to hit the market in the last few months, the Defi Super Sports Cluster. This unit is as cool as full-dash kits flash loggers get. The main LCD screen gives an assortment of readings to satisfy even the most die-hard geek. The unit is controlled through a small remote while the main unit has a slot for an SD memory card where you can download all the data you want! Long gone are the days of using obsolete PC interfaces! This is new-school stuff. An Alpine MD/HD entertainment and navigation unit keeps you busy while stuck in traffic while the twin Neko lambda meters keep A/F in check for both banks of cylinders. Individuality is a tough dragon to chase. Top Secret have created a definite one-of-a-kind beast that is sure to take the tuning world by a storm. And don’t for a second think that Top Secret are content to sit back on their laurels.

As the curtain fell on the build of the VQ32 and it was bundled off for Option video shoots and a stint at the Tokyo Auto Salon, Top Secret has already begun their next quest for individuality – an R32 GT-R Skyline powered by the ultra-rare Australian market RB30DE engine ... in naturally aspirated trim of course.
