Nissan Skyline GT-R - No Limits

Proving that ad slogans are more than tired clichés, Rob Hane from No Limit Motorsport built a Skyline GT-R to be all it can be.

Controlling this monster RB26DET, which pounds out over 600whp on pump gas and 900whp on race gas (go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_cvb_1SLuE for video evidence), is a Apex’i Power FC and FC Datalogit tuning box with anti lag, all tuned to perfection by Rob himself on the No Limit Motorsport dyno, along with a little help from the PLX wideband air/fuel and boost sensors. According to Rob, “with 610 wheel horsepower on the street, this thing is crazy fast. It’s really easy to get up to 140-150 mph before you know it.” Saabs may be “Born from jets”, but clearly this Skyline can fly!

As impressive as the power output from Rob’s R33 is, what really hits home with a lot of enthusiasts, whether they see this Skyline roll by on the streets or at a HIN show, is its super clean looks. No flashy decals. No blingy wheels. Just a high quality respray in BMW M3 ‘Gunmetal Silver’, custom painted logo and shaved key hole on the trunk, clear side markers and turn signal covers, and a paint-matched OEM front lip along with a gorgeous set of 19-inch Gunmetal Volk TE37’s. Real GT-R connoisseurs may also spot the ’98 GT-R HID projector headlights, and the Seibon carbon fiber hood, exposed Sparco fuel cap, and D2 Racing big brake kits blend in perfectly with the subtle yet aggressive exterior styling of this meticulously built R33.

Under the hood and inside the cockpit, Rob’s GT-R has an appealing show quality that contrasts yet compliments the all-business exterior treatment. The engine bay has enough polished surfaces and carbon accents to make an astronaut jealous, and inside the custom Alcantera-wrapped headliner and sun visors provide a rich look and feel to go along with the sporty Bride Vorga seats and custom Bride-wrapped door panels, rear seats, center console cover, shifter boot and e-brake cover. Add to that a full compliment of Sparco controls including steering wheel, peddle set, and shift knob, an assortment of carbon fiber trim pieces on the center console, dash, and door sills, and a killer Alpine audio system and you’ve got an interior that has been modified in every conceivable way. And since Rob has every intention of beating on his Skyline at the track, there’s also a custom 6-point roll cage and Sparco fire suppression system onboard, to go along with the Nismo 11,000 rpm/320 km/h gauge cluster and torque split/oil temp/boost sub-gauge cluster.

Living up to the name of his automotive performance shop is no small feat, but Rob Hane is walking the walk and living the dream with his truly awesome R33 Nissan Skyline GT-R. It’s clear from the way Rob has built this machine that there were no limits imposed, other than sticking to his vision of a clean street machine that could blow the doors off just about anything on the road and still take home trophies at the local car shows. To Rob and his whole crew at No Limit Motorsport, we say thank you for building a R33 that has inspired us and our readers to believe in the limitless potential of our own automotive dreams and to “just do it” when building our ride of choice.

PULL QUOTES: The “be all you can be” RB26 engine build is based around many of the top shelf tuner parts No Limit sells, including a HKS T51R ball bearing single turbo kit. Controlling this monster RB26DET, which pounds out over 600whp on pump gas and 900whp on race gas, is a Apex’i Power FC and FC Datalogit tuning box with anti lag.
