1999 Mazda Miata - Arun Shridas

Arun’s Miata is a great example of what can be built on a mild budget, yet be extremely fun and reliable to drift in while still being driven on the street.

Arun Says: I got a Miata this past summer because someone hit and totaled my RX-8. I needed a fun daily driver that could handle a ton of track abuse, and the Miata fit the bill. It’s cheap, reliable, comes with an OEM LSD and it’s fun as hell. I put the basics (coils, wheels, seat, steering wheel, hardtop, roll bar, etc.) on it during the first two days, then on the third day went to my first drift event with the Miata. I’ve owned the car for about six months now and have attended seven drift days, went through about a dozen tires and will hopefully get a ton more track time next season.
We Say: We don’t get many Miata submissions, and when we do, they’re either overdone or full-blown race cars. Arun’s Miata is a great example of what can be built on a mild budget, yet be extremely fun and reliable to drift in while still being driven on the street.
