"In general, the factory lines of this car are aerodynamically functional and very classy," he points out. "I didn't want to add any aftermarket ground effects or spoilers, so instead, I opted to paint the lower front, side and rear skirts to match the rest of the body."
Amar's brothers were quick to follow his lead. Incidentally, you'll notice all three cars also incorporate functional hood scoops-original equipment on European Supras-which were secured through family members in Europe and installed by cutting 4x7-inch slots into the factory sheetmetal.
After the cosmetic mods were complete, Amar dropped a select few power adders into the engine bay, a Rod Millen downpipe and A'PEXi N1 exhaust system. A K&N intake system now draws air in place of the stock airbox. Later, Amar added a GReddy Profec-B for on-the-fly boost control and two A'PEXi system meters, one on the A-pillar to read boost and one in the dash to monitor exhaust temperature.
As stated earlier, all three cars are still works in progress. Though all three brothers plan to push the power envelope, Raj's plans are the most concrete: switching to a GReddy single-turbo and upgraded fuel system. He has already installed a front-mount GReddy intercooler, like Karun's, in anticipation of ingesting the big T-78 turbocharger into his engine bay. It should be interesting to see what the other two will come up with to top him.
Despite the rather competitive nature of their modification rivalry, Supra ownership has been essential to bringing these three brothers back together through the chaos of their personal lives. Karun puts it best: "Four years later, our lives have completely changed, and so have our cars. We now live to prowl the streets of Houston, and haunt the domestics every Saturday night."
