2000 C-West Mazda RX-7 - Rotary Neurosis - JDM Fantasy

Stopping is important when your car makes 480hp, so C-West made no compromises here. C-West technicians began modifications at the heart of the brake system by replacing the stock RX-7 master cylinder with a FEED high-volume unit. APP stainless-steel brake lines enhance brake feel while Brembo calipers pirated from a Ferrari F50 in the front and Ferrari F40 in the rear handle stopping duties. RAMS brake pads do the dirty work all around.

With a 13-point roll cage, it was only appropriate to outfit the remainder of the Seven's interior with race-spec goodies. Takata four-point harnesses hold the driver into the Bride ZETA2 seat. An Italvolanti Imora RS steering wheel replaces the stocker. An array of HKS and Omori gauges keep the vitals in check.

C-West fitted the car with its latest body enhancements for the FD as well. C-West body bits include front and rear bumpers, side skirts, GT Wing 2, light kit and aero hood.

Although we didn't test C-West's Wankel-powered ass kicker, feature editor Jared Holstein did go for a hell ride in the streets of Japan. Holstein described the experience as religious and confirmed the claimed 480 hp. Since his return, Holstein has refused to wash the skidmarks from his BVDs, and does a duck and cover routine at the mere mention of an RX-7.

Look, as magazine editors we ride in a lot of fast cars. Occasionally, one of those cars stands out. C-West's RX-7 does just that. With enough power and cornering gumption to make editor Holstein blow mud, it gets our thumbs up as an outrageous ride.
