When parts are needed, the aftermarket is there. There are plenty of performance parts out there for the Supra including turbo upgrades, shocks, springs, intakes, exhausts, chips and clutches. Body kits and wings are also plentiful.
Tuners have been able to crank over 800 hp at the wheels from the Supra's 2JZ-GTE engine, making it one of the most powerful streetcars anywhere on the globe. At the recent Supra 2K2 meet in Houston, Jesus Rivera won the dyno competition with 858 whp, and a daily driven, Texas-based six-speed Supra ran the quarter mile in 9.8 seconds at 154 mph.
Although relatively rare, the fourth-generation Supra represents a great used performance car bargain. The performance-to-dollar quotient is high and there are plenty of ways to customize and make the car go faster and handle sharper.
