Intercooler cores are carefully matched to a series of aluminum railings, and slid down on top of each other before being sandwiched together and sent to a new station to be hand welded together. The newly-assembled intercoolers are then pressure tested using compressed air while underwater to ensure the strength of the welds.
ARC makes a lot more than just cooling components and that becomes obvious as we circle through the massive facility, squeezing between immense metal manipulation machines and robotic welders.
Shelves upon shelves of completed inventory fill the second half of our tour-everything from fresh-baked titanium shift knobs to massive Skyline GT-R intercooler cores pour out of shelves, awaiting shipment.
The last leg of our tour could be the most important part of ARC's enterprise: the offices. The floor is filled with engineers, CAD/CAM computers, and a haze of cigarette smoke so thick that you wouldn't be terribly off base thinking the building was on fire.
