Project Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX
Before the EVO, the GSX was king. And, with minor plumbing changes, a clipped turbo, and some tuning, we were at 300 whp. What we neglected was the brakes and a more advanced suspension.
Project Honda S2200 (AP2)
We got wiser with our second shot at the S2000 and started with the more competent AP2 chassis. So far, we only have a baseline, but we're going the route of a turbocharged street car this time.
Project Time Attack
After it was stolen and recovered, we resurrected Project first-gen Miata as this carbon beast, slated for the ever-popular time attack. We haven't seen it since the owner got it running.
Project Mazda RX-7 (SA)
After getting cats, headers, and an exhaust, this project disappeared into oblivion.
Project Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII
We were still so enthralled with the Evolution that, when we received the first of our EVO projects, we only tuned out what little OEM softness there was left in the car. With better brakes, a rear bar, R-comp tires, downpipe, and a twin plate clutch, there was rarely a night when the car sat in a driveway, instead of twisting through the mountains.
Project Mazda 323 GTX
The rally jockey special spent most of its time just wringing out the bugs of the dated chassis and finding the right dirt bombing suspension.
Project Mazda Miata (Second-Gen)
With every project car going the route of turbocharging, we decided to go the other way with a Jackson Racing roots blower. Then, like all project Miatas, it got stolen.
Project Mini Cooper S
Another SEMA wonder. We shot for flat black, but the car ended up semi-gloss black. Nonetheless, some brakes, seats, wheels, and tires (along with the new paint) made the Mini SCC SEMA spec.
Project Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII MR
Having done the basics on our first Project EVO, this MR went in search of big power with a GT30 turbo and lost all its drivability in the process.
Project Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX
With lessons learned from previous project EVOs, we built this EVO IX specifically for SCCA BSP street legal autocross.
Project Nissan 200SX SE-R
Our final obsession with the Sentra before the car went south. This SR powered naturally aspirated 200SX was basically a streetcar with a touring car engine. At least the wheels looked touring-ish.
Project Nissan 350Z
By far the most photographed of our project cars, this Z33 is now the oldest Z33 alive in North America. We're prepping it for competition in the Super Lap Battle street class, the ultimate test for daily drivers.
