CNNP's Neon exhaust produced good performance for the money. A muffler shop's assistance is required for installation since the muffler must be welded to the stock center pipe. The dual polished, stainless-steel tips are tasteful and a welcome relief from your typical grapefruit-shooter tips.

In contrast, the Moroso pan is a work of art. Note the full-length windage tray. The pan also has a 2-quart greater capacity.

The Neon underdrive pulley has a two-piece design. When drag racing, the red pulley can be unbolted from the hub and replaced with the radically underdriven silver pulley that drives only the alternator and water pump for even less parasitic power loss.

The Neon's ECU mounts in the engine compartment. Going with CNNP's advice, we ran the DOHC ECU because it has more timing and more enrichment at high rpm than the SOHC ECU.

The Kirk header is remarkably different from the stock Neon manifold. The restrictive stock manifold is designed for low cost and to light off the stock close-coupled cat quickly after cold start. Power generation was obviously low on the priority list.

The RC Engineering throttle body shows RC's usual attention to detail; profiled throttle shafts with staked countersunk screws for good flow at wide-open throttle, a honed bore for good idle speed control and as big a bore as physically possible. The stock throttle body, by comparison, is impossibly small for a 2.0-liter engine.

We used a Dremel Tool with a sanding drum to port out the little hole in our stock plastic manifold. Be sure to stuff the plenum with rags to prevent debris from getting into the engine.

The TTI Racing lower control arm brace is quite a worked-over piece--check out the elaborate machining. By reducing toe-in under side load, the brace improved turn-in by a perceptible amount.
