The grooves on Yokohama's A032 sound almost like an off-road tire at lower speeds, especially around 40 mph, but at freeway speeds, it's tolerable. Since putting Kosei K1 Racing wheels on our MR2, we've received several compliments about their appearance.

TRD says the Sportivo springs lower the car 3/4 inch. Of all the instructions, only those for the lower member braces were in English. Since we've done similar work and had the Big Green Book, it wasn't a problem.

The front strut is easily removed with two clamp bolts and three upper mount bolts (not visible, accessed from above). The ABS sensor wire unbolts from the strut, as does the brake line mounting tab--a feature we wish every car had. The anti-roll bar endlink attaches to the control arm.

The rear strut is only slightly more difficult to remove, because the anti-roll bar attaches to it. The studs on the end-link ball joints have Allen key recesses to hold them while turning the nut. We hauled the old and new struts down the street to the nice people at The Progress Group, who helped us use a spring compressor to trade hardware, a procedure that takes about 15 minutes. Then we slapped it all back on the car. Paying a marginal fee to use a shop's spring compressor is the safest and often easiest way to change struts yourself.

This is the stock rear anti-roll bar mount. Changing the rear is easy, requiring only the removal of the rearmost molded plastic undertray for access. The front bar appeared to be more challenging, but Dominic Conti, the SCC garage's resident problem solver, wriggled it out through the maze of crossmembers, steering and suspension. It's possible; be creative. When you get to this point, you're done. Have it aligned, and get ready to drive around with a big, stupid grin on your face.
