The massive hump in the driver's side floor makes seat mounting difficult. Notice how the JIC seat bracket moves the inboard rail toward the center of the seat to avoid the hump and lower the seat.

The outside rear mounting point of the Skyline seat doesn't line up. While drilling through the floor and using a nut, bolt and giant washer seems the obvious solution, the floor is double-walled here, so tightening such a nut and bolt would simply crush the floor. Instead, you need to weld a nut to a small steel plate, drill an oversize hole in the floor, drop the nut in the hole and weld the plate to the floor so that the nut is countersunk into the floor.

The JIC seats have massive side bolsters and a slightly unusual shape. Most of the lateral support is in your legs, so if you're wide of thigh, the jewels might feel a little tight.

The R32 Skyline GT-R seat looks boring, but it's a holding monster, with grippy faux-suede uphol-stery and a supportive shape. It's also designed to fit the funky floor. Too bad you'll never find one.

This is the only distinguishing marking on the monster Z32 1 1/16 master cylinder. The stock 240SX cylinder is 7/8 inch.

The big cylinder only came on ABS-equipped cars, which only used two brake lines. When you get the cylinder, one of the two front-wheel lines (the pair on the right) will be plugged. If it's a Nabco cylinder, just remove the plug. If it's a Tokico, you'll have to make a new brake line with a Volkswagen-style bubble flare.

Removing the old studs is easy if you have enough anger. You could just whack the stud with a hammer, but if it won't come out, you'll be stuck with a damaged stud. Put a lug nut on it instead and whack the lug nut. A little WD40 on the splines will help.

Nissan Silvia Coupe Badges
It's amazing how many people think this required some complicated multi-step process. Here's the process: tell Imagine-It Graphics you want stripes with the logos cut out. Pick up the stickers. Put them on the car. The shiny black is sticker. The flat black is the paint below.

Putting the new stud on is easy. Bottom out a lug nut against a spacer and turn it to pull the stud into place. If you don't have a spacer, you can just run an open-ended lug nut all the way down the stud. Using anti-sieze on the threads makes everything easier.

The slightly larger 9000-rpm 180SX tach from our front clip fit just fine, though the tick marks are clipped slightly by the '89 240SX housing.

The three screws in the center hold the tach in place and serve as the electrical inputs. They're the only thing you have to touch.

Our center-mounted KA24DE tach and the later, side-by-side SR20DET tach aren't quite the same size. The solution, believe it or not, is a pair of scissors.
