The Exedy flywheel is made of chrome-moly steel, which makes it slightly heavier than a comprable aluminum flywheel. The generous removal of material near the outer edge of the flywheel keeps rotational intertia low, however. The heat-resistant properties of the chrome-moly steel make it a better choice when using a heat-resistant cerametallic clutch.
