SEMA 2006 - Day Three
Story Jason Siu, Photos Modified Staff

On SEMA Day Three, we spotted the ever growing trend of Subarus and EVOs taking the show floor by storm.  Several Subarus and EVOs are sporting full cages and wicked suspension setups as they get ready to attack the track.  That's right, time attack themed vehicles are popping up left and right and only solidifies how great the sport is becoming.

In the Status Racing booth, we spotted another new Tjin Edition project, this time a domestic.  Featured as a sneak preview in our December 2006 issue, we spotted out Tjin's Solstice packed with a custom cage and crazy amounts of custom fabrication work from Unique Fabrication.  The entire trunk has been redone in full sheetmetal, the suspension has been completely customized and the list goes on.  Continuing the Tjin Edition trend is a Volvo S40 sporting a custom paint job, yellow Status Racing seats and HRE wheels.  Continuing to raise the bar, we can't wait to see what these guys have up their sleeves given the success of the Turtle Wax Skyline that graced our cover.

BRS shocke the scene with their new widebody Supra.  Carrying a similar theme as their pink shaded FD RX-7, the Supra packs heavy horsepower out of their 2JZ and styling that reminds us of their RX-7.  We continued to see plenty of customized Fits across the show floor and got a chance to admire some of the personal vehicles including Leonard's Hot Pink EK Civic.  We were also able to finally catch up with the 2JZ swapped S13 and keep your eyes out for a future feature in Modified Magazine.

Lastly, NOPI officially announced their drift series for 2007.  Though the dates are not set in stone, they will be mixing some drag with drift throughout the year.  There will be 8 drag events and 8 drift events, with winner payout to be at least $10,000.00 per event.  We can't wait to see and hear more information and make sure to check back with Modified.com for up to date news on this.

As we head into the last and final day of this insane week of sport compact extravaganza, we'll close up by showing off more personal cars and what up and coming companies will have to offer to our industry.
