June2504__APR To Debut at NOPI Race at Maryland International Raceway June 26th-27th
Team Angela Proudfoot Racing is preparing to debut at the NOPI/NDRA Race Wars to be held at Maryland International Raceway in Mechanicsville, Maryland on June 26th & 27th.
The team enters the 2004 season with excitement and determination, while citing the sanctioning bodies' rule changes allowing aftermarket transmissions in the Hot Rod/Pro 4 Cylinder class as the reason for its delayed entry.
"As soon as the rule changes were finalized, we knew we had to make some changes to the racecar to remain competitive in the Hot Rod/Pro 4 Cylinder class," said Chris Neidemire, Crew Chief. "We began by redesigning the front half of the chassis which included having custom upper and lower control arms fabricated to allow our suspension to move more freely and allow better traction capability. This permitted us to switch to the new Tokico D-spec 16-way adjustable shocks utilizing HTS technology, giving us more of a range of dampening and adjustability. We also upgraded the brake system by installing CNC brakes, which are not only lighter and more reliable than the stock brake system, but also yield more stopping power. The biggest change, however, is our new transmission setup, which features custom dog-cut gears and a dual-plate slipper clutch designed by RAM. In conjunction with all the other changes we made, I am confident that these components will propel us into the 8-second zone at speeds exceeding 170-mph."
Unfortunately, the custom-designed dog-cut gears are not quite finished, so the team will be using their modified-stock transmission setup from last year during the first race.
"We are hoping that the new gears will finished in time for our second race as we are very excited about the gear ratios, but even more excited about the clutch, which we can't use until the new gears are installed," said Angela. "But even so, with all the other new components we've installed and changes we've made, this car will run quicker and faster -- I will make sure of that," she said with a smile. "A driver's mental preparedness is just as important as having the right equipment on the track...and I can't wait to get back on the track!"
One thing is for sure, it is the team's dedication and determination that has always made APR stand apart from the rest.
This race will air on Speed Channel. You will also find the team's results posted on angelaproudfoot.com.
