1991 Acura NSX VS 1990 Honda Civic - Tech

I took the wheels to Pit Crew Motorsports in San Gabriel Calif. to have their resident wheel expert, James West, have a look at them. Finding correctly sized hardware to replace the old rivets was difficult. You'd think that there would be one or two standard sizes but that is not the case. West finally suggested that I go with hardware from ARP. The same company that is famous for its engine internal fasteners has a large variety of sizes made just for wheel applications. My stainless steel rivets weren't cheap but I have absolute confidence in their strength and now I like my wheels even more since all the bolt heads have ARP stamped on them.

My painter Marc shot the inside of the barrels with black paint while they were apart. Those were always impossible to keep clean before. Then the guys at Pit Crew reassembled the wheels and torqued them down to spec. After that they mounted a set of Toyo's new R1R tires. The sizes are still a bit limited on the R1Rs but the 195/50/15s that I went with seem to be closer to a 205 series and fit perfectly on my 15x6.5" Precedios.
