While we were able to assemble and install the entire transmission assembly ourselves, we opted to have Nakadate personally undertake the tedious task of shimming and adjusting our differential. In order to get proper engagement of the ring and pinion gear, the assembly has to be measured, tightened, re-measured, tested and most likely done several times over since everything shifts when the whole thing is bolted together. Other Tid BitsWith the transmission and rear axle cleaned, rebuilt, and assembled, we just needed a few more parts to complete our immaculate new driveline. First on the list is a clutch. With the new super tall first gear and very limited torque, we opted for a full face, sprung hub Stage 1 clutch kit from Exedy Racing. Most people prefer harsh instant engagement clutches for track cars, but the shock of engagement is hard on the driveline. And since the car had to be driven on the streets to get to the track, the sprung hub would make driving and starting in a tall first gear a little more tolerable. The semi-metallic friction material already does a lot for quick solid engagement. While we typically frown on short shifters because of the added wear on the gearbox, Project Corolla really needed one. The old school design made for a lot of slop and super long throws not to mention the original shifter bushing was long gone. Techno Toy Tuning makes a short shifter for the T50 by modifying the stock shifter with a higher fulcrum point and leverage arm. It feels somewhat sticky in a new transmission, but really does help add a modern racy feel to the stock box. Now we have power, grip, and useful gearing. So, what's left? It should be the part that we've all been waiting for. Our Exedy Racing Stage 1 solid face, sprung hub clutch is nearly identical to the stock clutch since Exedy's parent company, Daiken Clutch, manufactures for the OEMs. We chose a more streetable clutch because of the tall gearing and limited torque. Our Exedy Racing Stage 1 solid face, sprung hub clutch is nearly identical to the stock cl Techno Toy Tuning's T50 short shifter basically raises the fulcrum of the stock shifter with an adaptor plate and welded extension to the bottom of the stock shifter. This greatly reduces the actual throw and speeds up the shifter fork motion for much faster changes. The only trade off is synchro wear if you're sloppy.Techno Toy Tuning's T50 short shifter basically raises the fulcrum of the stock shifter wi SOURCEBOX K&N P.O.
